How to get an exceptional flooring installation

Flooring is a big investment. Don’t think of it as merely selecting a product, but be strategic and consider the overall picture, such as installation service, and lifestyle needs and desires.

Cal Flooring’s staff has a saying at our decades-old company: We grew up in the flooring industry.

That is because our company founder, Calvin Tollini, learned the trade from his father who operated his own successful flooring retail company. It seemed only natural that 20 years ago he and his wife, Jackie, would open their doors.

This company has a well-stocked inventory of all flooring materials, as well as an experienced staff who works with top realtors, designers, architects, general contractors, and property managers.

We hope to see you soon. Our showroom is in Auburn, CA and we service Grass Valley, Nevada City, and New Castle. Be sure to ask about our quotes and any discounts or promotions.

Why lifestyle?

As HGTV says, floors impact your life. You need something that fits your needs, such as whether you entertain frequently, have kids, pets or elderly residents, etc.

It’s also the largest surface in a room so it sets the entire atmosphere of the space, which will be an expression of your style.

Why is installation so important?

Installation affects the appearance of the flooring, as well as performance and longevity.

Some will say it’s even more important than the actual product itself.

This is exactly why it is so important to select the right provider for this service. A professional has the experience and skill to foresee problems before they arise, avoid them, and then handle them if they do happen.

Here are just some of the things that can go wrong, caused by improper installation.

  • Carpet: According to the Carpet and Rug Institute, CRI 105Standard for Installation of Residential Installation, all carpet should be power stretched (the knee kicker is only for stretching small areas, such as the closet). Without it, there can be buckling, bubbling, wrinkles and general loose fitting. Incorrect measuring results in carpet possibly being edged up against the wall and waste. Improper seaming results in a sloppy finish.
  • Hardwood: Gaps, cupping, peeling, staining, crowning and debris stuck in the finish.
  • Laminate: peaking (when two boards crowd each other and meet) gaps, noisy, buckling, warping.
  • Waterproof flooring (LVF): curling, cupping, lifted edges
